From Melbourne the best way to go is on the Princes Freeway heading towards Geelong. Continue along the Geelong Ring Road (which bypasses Geelong) and take the A1/A10/Colac/Grovedale exit. Turn right onto Colac Road, at the roundabout continue straight along the Princes Hwy past Colac to Camperdown.

To get to the lake from Camperdown, head towards Cobden. From Melbourne, you turn left into Leura Street (you'll see Maddens Commercial Hotel on the corner) which turns into the Camperdown/Cobden Rd. After about 4km turn right into Naroghid Road. Soon after you'll see a sign saying Lake Bullen Merri - turn right here and drive down to the race start.

It will take about 2 hours 15 minutes, allow 2 hours 30 minutes for a break halfway to stretch the legs.

A car is probably the best way to travel to the race start
